One Direction in US deal with Pepsi

Pop heart-throbs One Direction are reportedly cashing in on their success in the US by signing a big money deal with Pepsi.

The boy band, who have enjoyed massive success in the States since being put together on The X Factor, will promote the soft drink in a new advert with several American football stars.

The Sun reported they filmed the advert in a New Orleans studio last week.

They follow in the footsteps of other big names including Michael Jackson, Madonna and David Beckham who have all appeared in adverts for the drink in the past.

The boy band - Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson - embarked on a promotional tour to conquer the US and earlier this year became the first UK pop group to debut at number one on the US album chart when Up All Night rocketed into the top spot on the Billboard chart.

More than 10,000 fans are estimated to have turned up to see the teen stars' first live TV performance in the US when they appeared on NBC's Today Show in Rockefeller Plaza, New York. They were also mobbed at album signings during their jaunt round the US.

The group sold 176,000 copies of the album in the US in the space of a week and it topped the digital charts within minutes of its release.

One Direction have already found huge fame among teenage fans in the UK after starring in the 2010 X Factor series and finishing third.

Up All Night went straight to number one at home and in 12 other countries with global sales of more than 4.2 million.

2012 MTV Video Music Award

Between the Olympics, One Direction's epic US tour and announcement of theirnew album, the endless stream of amazing"Call Me Maybe" covers that hit the Internet, and news of Demi Lovato's new"X Factor" gig, it's been a pretty awesome summer for pop culture. And even though school is now back in full swing, there's still one last big event -- the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards -- to look forward to as a final farewell to the season.

This Thursday, some of our favorite musical acts and celebs will take the stage as hosts, presenters, performers and honorees at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards. So far, seven stars are slated to perform -- and with this year's killer lineup, we can't wait to see who steals the show.

Teen Choice Awards host Demi Lovato will be performing "Give Your Heart A Break"at the pre-show. Her fellow VMA veteran Taylor Swift will perform a new track from her upcoming album, Red.

Recently, Taylor opened up about her pre-performance jitters.

"The thing about the VMAs is, the people that help put together the performances are honestly some of the best people you have ever worked with and they put together these huge, vast, massively entertaining performances," she told MTV News. "You have to make sure that you are ready to go onstage and face the entire world of music fans that are watching that show."

Although Taylor and Demi are no strangers to the Video Music Awards, One Direction -- who returned stateside yesterday to get ready for the show -- will take the stage as first-timers.

Headlining performances by Pink and Rihanna will also keep the energy high during the show, while controversial rapper Frank Ocean and alt-rock classics Green Day will add an edge to the otherwise pop-heavy lineup.

Teknologi PLS atau Plane to Line Switching sendiri merupakan sebuah teknologi yang dikembangkan oleh Samsung. Teknologi ini dikatakan dapat meningkatkan tampilan, baik dari segi brightness maupun sudut pandang. Selain itu, monitor dengan teknologi ini juga menawarkan harga yang murah namun kualitas gambar yang tak murahan.

Bahkan teknologi ini juga diklaim memiliki kemampuan yang lebih baik dibandingkan layar IPS (In Plane Switching) yang saat ini banyak dijumpai di pasaran. Selain menawarkan layar PLS, monitor ini juga dilengkapi dengan webcam 2MP yang tersemat pada bagian depan layar. Dan untuk kemudahan penggunaan, terdapat pula port USB 3.0.

Peluncuran handphone BlackBerry 10 memang masih lama. Research in Motion (RIM) merencanakan untuk melepas produk terbarunya tersebut pada awal tahun 2013. Namun, bocoran mengenai BlackBerry 10 sudah mulai beredar di internet.

Setelah kemarin muncul tampilan layar home serta video dari BB L Series dengan layar full touchscreen, kini muncul handphone serupa dengan tampilan yang berbeda. Dikutip dari Phonearena, gambar ini merupakan gambar pertama yang muncul sebelum versi pre-commercial.

OS ini pun memiliki sebuah desktop seperti yang dimiliki oleh Windows 8. Tentunya OS ini juga dilengkapi dengan aplikasi seperti Control Panel, Windows Explorer, Internet Explorer ataupun Microsoft Office. Bahkan aplikasi-aplikasi tersebut juga akan ditunjang dengan kemampuan touchscreen.

Namun, pada platform ini hanya memperbolehkan aplikasi yang hanya bisa diperoleh dari Windows Store atau aplikasi yang sudah ada di dalam OS ini. Jadi, bisa dikatakan bahwa aplikasi Windows 8 belum tentu bisa dijalankan di platform Windows RT. Selain itu, Microsoft juga menyatakan bahwa OS ini juga tidak akan dijual kepada publik. Untuk memperoleh OS ini, Anda hanya bisa mendapatkannya dengan membeli sebuah tablet.

Samsung Galaxy S3 benar-benar menjadi fenomena tersendiri bagi Samsung. Setelah berhasil mencatatkan tingkat penjualan sebesar 10 juta unit dalam kurun kurang dua bulan, kini handphone canggih dengan prosesor quad core ini menjadi handphone paling laris di Amerika Serikat.

Menurut data dari lembaga analis Canaccord Genuity, tingkat penjualan Samsung Galaxy S3 di bulan Agustus berhasil mengalahkan iPhone 4S. “Kami percaya bahwa ini merupakan yang pertama sejak peluncuran iPhone 4S yang dilakukan pada Oktober 2011 di mana handphone tersebut tidak menjadi handphone terlaris di pasar Amerika Serikat,” ujar analis T. Michael Walkley.

Tingkat penjualan iPhone 4S dalam beberapa bulan terakhir memang mengalami penurunan. Kemungkinan besar alasan penurunan tingkat penjualan tersebut adalah keinginan para konsumen untuk menunggu kedatangan iPhone 5.

Namun, pertarungan sesungguhnya antara Apple dan Samsung akan benar-benar terjadi jika Apple telah meluncurkan iPhone 5 yang akan dilakukan pada 12 September mendatang. Tak heran menjelang peluncuran tersebut Apple ingin mencekal Samsung Galaxy S3 dengan senjata hak patennya.
